1.i have ripped the cd using smartripper
    2. i had to rempeg the m2v file
    3. i authored using spruce up
My question is i have 2 m2v files, 1 a3c file, vts_05_"1-5".vob files,2 list files,1 .ifo file. The thing is when i go to Nero the vob files are 0 in size.? I'm wondering what i did wrong.

Why have you got 2 m2v files ?

The problem suggests Spruce Up, as this merges the m2v & ac3 files to create your VOB set.

Suggest you check your setting when you get to the export stage in Spruce UP.

PS Have you had this working before ?

I've started the whole process over again. I'm watching Smartripper rip the disc and it's placing the vob files in a folder and they are zero in size. Are the vob files supposed to be zero in size, i don't think so??

    Physiks,
    Check settings in Smartripper
    Movie>File-Splitting

    Max-filesize (Check)

    Maxfilsize = 1000 Mb

Ok thanks, i have changed it to 1000MB but the same problem is occuring. The vob's are still being ripped as zero in size.

    Physiks,

I'm starting to get confused now.

You have described 2 totally different problems. Your first post on 20th November seemed to suggest you managed to rip the DVD (although you said "CD" is it CD or DVD ?), and that having used Spruce Up you resultant VOBs were of zero value.

Now you say that Smartripper is creating zero size VOBs.

Check to see where you "Target" (Smartripper term) is pointing to.

Also, if you still have problems, please list ALL Smartripper settings, so that I can get a better idea of EXACTLY what you are doing.

I would use BACKUP under SmartRipper
Then use IfoEdit 0.95 not 0.94 to split it into 2-DVDRs, before I do this, I would STRIP off the extra audio & all subtitles to see if it will fit inot 1-DVDR

I would not do REMPEG as it would takes you up to 20 hrs. to do. Why not do it into 2-DVDRs and have it as 1 to 1 just like the original DVD. Good luck!!

To an extent I would agree with you, but there are certain steps that you have to got through first.

    Lets see how Physiks replies.

*correction Homer J it should have been dvds.
The problem is with smartripper i assume since when i try to rip the vob files are zero in size. SpruceUp is working fine because it is importing the .m2v and .a3c file. I shall list my setting for smartripper Key check:every vob file, vob file acess:auto, file splitting:every vob -file,<--could be my mistake since Homer J said it should be max file size, max file size 10000 or should it be 1000Mb,options:create list-file,unlock drive, demacrovision, copy ifo file, create index, create info,fast.. all these are checked.

    Physiks,

I am still a bit confused, if Spruce Up is accepting your m2v & ac3 files.

Once it has done this, it should export these files as a VOB set.

Once you get to Spruce Up, Smartripper has already done it's job in supplying the m2v & ac3 files.

Anyway, I've checked my Smartripper settings, and there are a couple of differences. These being :-

Settings > VOB file access > normal

    Settings > File - Splitting > max-filesize

    Max-filesize = 1000MB

    Options > Create List-File (I don't check this one)

Are you using the Export part of Spruce Up (Export Properties > Output To....

and Output Destination (this is where you define where to write your new VOB set)

    Hope This helps.

No i do not use the export portion of SpruceUp, i use Nero. Does SpruceUp place the vob set into the "export" location when it imports the .a3c and m2v file? If SpruceUp places a vob set into that export location my computer isn't doing that.

All you should be using Nero for is BURNING your DVD, no authoring at all.

    This is how it goes.

Import your video and matching audio files into Spruce UP.

Click and drag your "new file" to the bottom of the screen, (to the right of the one that is always there. If you place you cursor over it, it says "Drop new menu background here".

    Then select Export button.

Under "Export Properties" you should see a dialogue box marked "Output to" select the drop down and select "Title Set"

This should then allow you to enter data in the "Output Destination - Folder Path"

By Default mine says :- F:\SpruceupWorking

But yours might say something different.

The click on the "Write" button.

At this point, you are creating your own unique set of VOBs, and all the other files needed for a true DVD.

Shutdown Spruce Up and launch Nero.

Use the wizard as follows :-

    DVD>Compile a new DVD>Other DVD Formats>DVD Video>Finish

Then drag and drop ALL the files from where you wrote them from Spruce UP (One small point, Spruce Up creates a *.LAY file Delete this file, you don't need it. If you copy it across, Nero will not burn, as this file is not part of the DVD format.

    Good Luck
