With both DVDXCOPY and DVD DECRYPTER,DVD2ONE,then Nero my sony dru500 will burn between 60-80% of the dvd then it'll stop and give me a "write error" message. I've used both of the two means to backup over 200 movies, but now I'm stumped. Any one have any ideas???

Ya I did. I got some new stuff coming and hopefully it is just the media. I was just wondering if anyone else happened to have this problem in which it wasn't media related.

Usuallu find the most common problem is the media. Let us know if it was the media and what discs you were using.

I've just had the same thing happen to me but I didn't change the media??

Is media the most likely fault in a write error??
I've just tried burning 4 in a row using different authored DVDs and different burning programs same thing happened.
Is it possible the writer has become faulty?? (although it's only 2 weeks old)
I can write to CDRs fine.

Media tends to be the main cause of write errors. Obviously it can be the burning softwares fault too, but generally its media!

As it's happened with 3 different burning softwares I suppose it's safe to assume it's the media then.

BTW any sign of a hacked firmware for Pioneeer 106 yet??

Well it did turn out to be bad media for me. This stuff I got off Ebay and it has absolutly no type of manufacturing identification at all.
