    Hi Gamers,

Continuing from the thread I'm going to buy a new console which I bought yesterday, I was going to consider flashing the xbox myself but then I decided the cost of getting all the tools, and making sure my computer was compatible was too much expense and hastle.

Therefore, I am going to get someone else to do it who provides a flashing service who I found by looking up in a local paper.

Anyway is there any specific questions I should be asking him? Is there anything I should be made aware of or note down or do myself before I give him my console? Speaking on the phone he mentioned that he will solder some chip that I can turn on and off to prevent my console being banned online.

Any tips would be appreciated. Thank You.

    Mr imbannedf,

as far as i know there is no chip available to stop you getting banned????? you always run the risk no matter what you do to avoid it.

    Questions i'd be asking is:

what exactly is he soldering to your new 360?

what guarantee does he give with the work he does?

what is his success rate at installing this mod?

    Other Questions are:

After spending all this money on getting your box modded where are you getting your backed up media from?

can you verify that the backup's are as close to the original as poss?

will you be p*ssed if you play one game and get banned due to poor workmanship during the mod?

These are all possibilities that could end up with you having an expensive DVD player and as long as you are happy to potentially have a £120 door stop/paper weight then you are fine to get your 360 modded.

Mike- Yeh I guess I need to update my signature now lol.

Toaster- He seems to have good rep over on xbox-scene. Plus he is a local'ish chap, offers 90 day warranty of his work, costs £20 which is great and £15 to re-flash for further updates. I am not too worried about it getting bricked because the chances are slim. I would have done it myself but there is the time, cost and I am apprehensive about doing it on my jones. I will backup my own games that I have purchased and some which I already posess, but that means that I may have to buy a new 0800 drive as my Kreon is no longer of any use for re-backing new wave games from what I have read. (I still need to read up on this backing procedure and stealth checking again). In addition I rent n rip and download to trial games as it has in the past saved me from buying games that were over rated and just plain boring.

I agree i have seen nothing that lets you run it off and on but i would say it is possible. He may just be instlling another chip that it reads from when it is on and wont when it is off which in the end is the BEST way to keep from being banned but i myself would not trust unless i seen his work or did it myself.
