I'm finding this really wierd I have 2 256mb dimms in my pc but it just reading them as 2 128mb I've updated BIOS and pulled battery but still have the total of 256mb Ive even put one dimm at a time with it showing both dimms as 256mb I started off with 128mb and added the 256mb one at a time with the same total of 256mb anybody know of a remedy as I'm not not wealthy.
the board is incompatible with high density ram so only reads half the total. was this always like this? what is the make & model# of the computer or motherboard prefer the motherboard
Not sure if this is the problem here but the board only seems to support 256mb of sdram Supports a maximum memory size of 512 MB (128-bit technology) or 256 MB (64-bit technology) for SDRAM http://support.packardbell.com/nl/m...enger&PibItemParent=platform_clipper_imediasl
I know wat your saying but according to packard bell it should support max 512mb as said I've been round the merry go round a bit trying BIOS and Bios battery
board can support 512meg of ram if it is compatible which it is not as only shows half of the ram. i have a customer with the same problem. choice is either replace the ram to that is compatible to your board or replace your board. it might not cost anything for the ram as possible might do an exchange
Hi guys bout to go to work one last thing when I removed the Bios battery I did notice some text in the bottom r/h corner of the screen before it booted up stating wrong memory size 255mb don't know if this can be changed before I try to exchange the one's I've got
Hi guys ref my last post when I remove my cmos battery one of the suggestions from a different source I get DOS with a message in the bottom left corner stating. CMOS SETTINGS WRONG CMOS/GPNV CHECKSUM BAD CMOS MEMORY SIZE WRONG Is there anyway I can change this without trying to exchange the DIMM's or having to fork out for new one's
OK I'll try anything what am I looking for I'm not totally thick but I also don't want to change anything and muck it up as cash is limited.
Unfortunately not but I've been in the bios setup before changing boot-up settings and stuff when upgrading my HD
when removing & re-installing the battery you will get that message so go into the bios to correct the time & date, boot sequence of the drives. see what it shows for ram amount
thats to be expected as that ram if is the ones you originally posted is not compatible with your motherboard. is the time, date & other things correct??
