    Hello-

I have seen various threads on this already, but none seem to align too well with what I have tried.

I have a few DVDs which I am trying to back-up. I used DVD Shrink to create an image file of these DVDs. When burned to DVD-R they will not play in any of my stand alone players. I have used this process many times and it has always worked. I am useing Nero to burn the image to a disk. (Not data disk)

Next, I tried mounting the image using Daemon Tools. I copied all of the Video_TS files and created a DVD this way... still no go. Once mounted, I can watch the image fine on my computer. Also, the burned DVD-R plays fine on my computer. Again, using Nero to build the DVD and burn.

I am not sure why neither of these methods have worked, yet the DVD-R plays on my computer and mounting the image also will allow the file to be played. Any advice would be much appreciated.

FWIW, what you are doing is actually illegal.
DVDShrink may not be removing later copy protection schemes designed to prevent exactly what you are doing, as it is an obsolete application that is not being updated to remove newer protections.

you need to use the free dvdfabdecrypter (program updated monthly)to rip your dvd's. Next use dvd shrink to shrink your video_ts files and backup to a ISO. Then you can burn with nero.

That should fix your problem. Also make sure you only use sony or verbatim blank dvd media. All other blank dvd media is unreliable for dvd video backup burning.
