Did someone mention a ban let alone an instant one? If you know where there's a good price on media post it, I have several times for good prices that I found on newegg.com. The difference here is when someone does it for their own financial gain.

Sorry I wasn't saying that there was!

With regard to Mr.Yang, I'm not aware of him slagging off media then selling it so I won't go into that but he does have his company name on his signature because he doesn't like to hide behind an anonymous UserID.

Mr. Wang could tell us who he is without providing links to his business site.

    I suppose!

Maybe it should be down to the Moderators to decide.

Agreed it will be the moderators who decide. I wouldn't recommend banning Mr. Wang but I would ask him to remove his link to his business site.

    StinHambo.

A member could be made to think you have a vested interest In Con*ex or Sellers who buy from them.

I think that anyone who has a link attached to their posts that's used for personal economic gain should have them removed. Its simple and not directly threatening to anyone.

I am in 100% agreement with brobear AND sophocles. No one else is allowed to put their business in their signature or even another forum they are in.

Referring to a link for informative purposes is a totally different situation.

You want to advertise? Pay for it like everyone else!

I'm personally dealing with the issue of advertising so let's all carry on.

I was never a part of the original debate but I think that everyone here has peacefully moved on.

Using questionable media is at best a "crapshoot," the quality is just too inconsistent. Even if one does manage to record them without a problem then you have to face the longevity factor. Pay now or pay big-time later!

Some of the new Bulkpaq X8 DVD-R are made by Fuji. the shame is the only way you can tell the difference between them is the Fuji disk has Version 2 on the disk the one that does not have this is made by Pro-Disk and is a Budget disk

Unfortunately it's like that with a lot of media suppliers. They might have a batch made by RICOH in one batch and then on another by CMC and the only way you can tell is to ID them. The problem is they're sitting on a store shelf and your PC is at home. Hmm! Perhaps if I brought my Laptop.

    Sophocles,
Even then the "goon" squad would be after you for shoplifting or tampering with merchandise. There appears to be no solution other than the brands putting manufacturer data on the packaging and we all know how likely that is to happen. Sort of a dubious situation at best.

Since a lot of no name manufacturers are in Taiwan, looking for Taiwan on the package is a quality indicator. Even the best Japanese brands that out source to Taiwan suffer a lowering of quality without the corresponding drop in price.

Hence the reason I've had such great success with RICOHJPN where the JPN stands for Japan.
