I have transferred my vhs home movies to dvd with my dvd recorder. i ripped that dvd to my hardrive with smartripper.. the video files are in a video_ts file in my documents file.. i want to edit video using windows movie maker..but when i try to import that file to the movie program , it shows the video_ts file empty or it doesn't recognize it. what's the deal? does the windows program not support that type of video file? do i have to convert the vob files to a different format?
Windows Movie Maker 2.0 supports the following formats: .asf, .avi, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv I would recommend converting your file to one of these formats and then importing it into windows movie maker.
hello Nick, I've the same problem as I made a copy of my video to the dvd recorder.I'd like to remove things of this dvd and tried to do that on the computer. They say you need a program to convert the vob files (made by your dvd recorder) to mpeg but they didn't say which program you can use doin that. Did you get any reply, what to use????????? If so could you say which program? Thank you in advance Greetings Ton
Hi!, First, to get things from the DVD onto your computer you have to rip the DVD. A great program for this is SmartRipper v2.41. You can download it here: SmartRipper v2.41 http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/smartripper.cfm Next, you wanted to convert the VOB files to mpeg. A great program for this is ImToo DVD Ripper. You can download it here: ImToo DVD Ripper http://www.tomdownload.com/dvd_software/imtoo_dvd_ripper.htm With this program, you can convert the files to mpeg or avi depending on what format you want it in. Windows Movie Maker 2.0 supports both of these formats. If these programs don't seem to work very well, post on the forum and i'll help you find a different program.
No problem. That's what we're here for. I'm glad it worked out. If you have any other problems, feel free to post on the forum.
