I have been considering importing foriegn VCDs for resale in the US. Hopefully some of you have had experience or knowledge of this.
These are copyrighted titles. They have been copyrighted outside the US. Is there anything special I need to do to make sure what I am selling is legal in the US?
Are there any compatibility issues when playing foriegn VCDs on US DVD players?
I know you guys are not lawyers and do not give legal advice. Just wanted to get some friendly feedback from you regarding the sale of foriegn VCD movies in the US.
    Thank You.
    Appreciate any feedback!!

I am not very well versed in what exactly you are trying to do because I would never try myself, seems to me that selling pirated software or any type of copyrighted material without the knowledge of the person who owns this copyright is illegal, and therefore not worth the risk. I honestly think you should reconsider your actions before they get you into trouble.. by the way, I don't think any member of this site would appreciate having the help we provided here to be used for illegal activity or pirating eihter..

anyhow, I hope you come to your senses and decide that creating backups of movies you own for personal use is way to go.

Best of luck in your personal endeavors.. I think you are smart enough to make the correct decision here.

copyrighted materials are copyrighted materials and the U.S. will uphold other countrys copyrights.....and yes there are things you could do so the things your are going to be selling is legal in the U.S. pay the royalties to the owners of the copyrighted materials and also get permission to sell those copys of copyrighted materials from the owners. But the chances of that happening are slim to none.

Sorry for the lag. I finally recieved notification that someone answered my thread today. Kept checking my e-mail but nothing came up.
Just want to make my self a little clearer. I am not going to copy anything(pirate) and try to resell it. I am going to purchase copyrighted vcd's from a store in a foriegn country and resell these in the US.
The question was: if these titles have been copyrighted in another country is it legal to resell them in the US (ie. I buy vcd of a foriegn movie title from a store in a foriegn country and resell it in the US.) This is the long and short of what I am asking. I am in no way looking to illegally copy something and resell it. On the contrary, I am attempting to investigate the situation prior to reselling them.
PS. VCD's in the third world can be bought for @ $1 US currency. These are foriegn titles only copyrighted in these countries. Hey, people are out there selling them already. Just wanted to go about it the right way. Take a plane ride over there. Looks like an oppourtunity to me.
    Anybody know anything?
