This is the second time that I have become an Inactive member and the reason stated was email related, something like aD has tried 5 times to send email to my email account and it failed? ddp was the first to let me know that this took place overnight in a PM a while back and just now, today while I actually was signed in. When I went to send a post I got the login screen with the Inactive account information, asking for another email address to verify my account, then click on the activation link. I own several domains, 3 of which are hosted. As you know, actually any name before the @domaininquestion.com such as aD, Ted, Jerk, (more fitting for me,) etc. will get forwarded as long as I don’t block that email address on my server. Since my server is up, and I am receiving all emails, why couldn’t aD get through? Is it actually anything to do with either deleting cookies, java files, or both in my PC? We all know what usually takes place when we see the Inactive comment as the member status. It was somewhat embarrassing the first time I was told about this, with how did this happen or what did you do questions. If anyone knows the answer/cause, please post it. Thanks

Scuba: If the system says that the email delivery has failed to your account, that is the reason. Sure, emails can bounce for gazillions of reasons -- mostly for non-existing domain names/account names, but also because of net problems, connectivity issues (for some reason somewhere in the globe some line got cut off and email didn't get through for example), etc. We've set the limit to five bounces so that occassional bounces wouldn't kick off people to inactive state, but obviously with guys posting s**tloads of msgs and receiving notifications to thousands of threads, five bounces can come up within 30 seconds easily. Nothing really what I can do about it other than state the reasons why it might have happened Maybe one day we'll change it so that senior members and above have "higher tolerance level" in terms of bounces. Additionally: I don't know whether any of our American users are aware of, but Verizon had this "nice trial" whereby they simply bounced all emails back coming from Europe. I mean every single goddamn email from Europe, no matter whether it is from AOL Europe or from some shady Polish porn site. In our case, this didn't cause issues as our servers are (simply due cost reasons, hosting in Europe is appx. 70 percent more expensive) located in the States, but simply wanted to expand your perspective how vulnerable email system is

The good news, [bold] nothing changed [/bold] when I got back on, my account was still there with all prior listings of forum posts and current discussion threads!
