Hello: I am using InCD and trying to burn my first DVD+RW with it. But: When I go to Windows Explorer, rt-click the DVD drive, choose "InCD Format' - Start - I receive the following error message: "Error writing the disc in D: Please confirm that the disc is compatible with the drive and is not scratched or damaged." The disc is indeed compatible and is brand new. It is an Imation DVD+RW and my DVD burner vendor, Lite-On, informs me that there is no reason why this disk should not work with my burner. I have InCD which came with a limited version of Nero 6 that came with my new Pentium 4 PC. My PC has plenty of resources to handle this operation. Am I forgetting to do something here? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You.
INCD conflicts with Nero and should be removed. Use the INCD zapper nero has for this: http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html Also you can check out my buddy alkohol for guides on how to use nero for all your burn operations. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/256436 Also Imation is not known for using quality discs. Try a verbatim or Sony, Maxell, Fuji, made in japan (its on the label usually by the barcode). Cheap media gives burn problems. You might also check your firmware for the drive as it might be out of date. Since creaky teleported this, you could also post a burn log, and we could see if anything else is going on in your system. The burns are seperated by something like this Windows XP 5.1 IA32-xxxx-xxxx- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- that was from a Nero 6 log, but 7 looks much like that. Underneath the divider is the operating system, and right below that is the begining of the serial number. When posting a log, just include the last burn log, and edit out your serial numbers by typing xxxx over them.

Your firmware is up to date and Nero version is good. This error tells me that your burner doesn't like your blanks, but the middle of your log is missing so I don't know what kind you are using. Anywhoo, only use quality blanks such as Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or Sony, Fuji, Maxell(made in Japan). Use the InCD cleantool that MaxBurn supplied for you, and get some better discs and you should be burning agian in no time.
But if I use that tool to zap INCD, what packet writing software do I use? As I stated already, Acronis True Image 9 REQUIRES packet writing software -- I can't get around that fact. I can't just zap it without replacing it with another packet writing program. BTW, I use Imation DVDRW's. Thanks.
Try some Verbs or another brand...Memorex and Imation are notorious for being crap. See MaxBurn's sig. (the cat)
what does Arcoins do for you that Nero cant? and im getting old as i didnt see you state that already.. note to self, clean glasses having problems seeing again.. Just wondering as INCD will confilct with Nero, and Nero can burn cds/DVDs without INCD. Here is what nero says about incd. and Try doing what you need with nero and INCD removed. They have come up with an INCD vers. 4 now, but personally i never use INCD and make sure its not there if using Nero. Maybe they will fix it and the conflicts it causes one day, but for now, its best to remove it. Try different media as suggested, and you might be amazed that the problem goes away. Also try burning without INCD installed. You can always put it back, and i will even link you to it, if you want it back on your system. Keep it in there, and we cant get past that, and the media choice, to get you back to burning. You will still have problems. http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php its package #3. Verbs are short for Verbatim. Good media. Tys are short for Taiyo Yuden, another great manufacturer of DVD discs. Tys can be found under the Sony, Maxell, Fuji, brand name if the spindle has Made in Japan on it. The MIT ones are not Tys and are not as good media IMHO. for a CD try to not go over 24x and for a DVD not over 4x. You also cut off some very important parts of the log. Like memory useage.. You did a good job of editing out the serial numbers, so please put the rest of the log in. Half a log, and you get half an answer.. LOL

Please be more specific as to where I should start cutting and where I should stop or there won't be enough room to paste the log file in. I never had any trouble with Nero and INCD Conflicting. I've burned DVD's already with Nero by itself. What are CMC Mag discs?
im not omnipotently following you around in other formus, just dealing with this thread in front of me. And getting technical is how i fix your log. You dont have to be, but i need facts to work with if you want me to help you. If not, im wasting my time. Im not mad or anything, it just that when you come across saying i should know what you posted in another forum, and telling me INCD is not a problem, well i kinda get the idea you wont listen to me, and instead will argue that media/INCD, or anything else i suggest is a not a problem. So, im wasting my time. I was just joking about the log and half an answer, but i did show you how to put up a log. You edited out part of it, and that was an important part to troubleshooting. All you had to do was paste from the last Nero header down as requested and edit out serial number. Yes the history log contains all burns, and we only needed the last one as i stated. Yes you are new to this, i understand. Sorry if i sound harsh, but there have been many pointless arguments going on lately, and my patience is a little thin. These other good folk will help you here, as im sure my answer to this one would not go over well either.

@Faith007 I really had given up on you as i have many ppl i can help that dont give me "attitude" you called it a joke, and i saw it as "attitude". See how easy things can get mixed up here? if its going to take that in front of every reason i suggest something, again, i think you would be better off with someone else helping you. So many aguments over nothing, and many good members leaving because of flame wars and arguments over pointless crap.. and im getting dragged down too. So, as a peace offering ill go thru this one quick and short. If anyone else sees something i missed, please pop in. See, that looks like attitude when you say i tried what you said and it DIDN'T WORK either. I dont see anything funny there and caps are considered shouting. Media change is a suggestion that may fix your problem all by itself, or it might not. One thing changed such as media, is a good start in the troubleshooting, but not always the answer all by itself. We have to do a complete change of things. We will fix all the problems, then decide if something didnt work. The sonys are ok if they are made in japan. Sony taiwan manufacture is not as good, but better than imation. now you will either listen to me about INCD or not. I still stand by this statement and im not going to argue why i say that. I know it to be true. Now i have also seen some systems where INCD and Nero get along fine, but not very many. About as often as i see a good CMC disc.. LOL here are the problems i saw: I saw CMC as a disc in these logs, i saw 48x burn, i see INCD, There is something strange on a CD rom drive see how that version says F$01 ? http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2059 im not sure if this is the exact same drive as yours but if it is, you need to update firmware on that drive. FSOD looks like the latest. The version of Nero you have is the NON-buggy one so that is good. Your memory useage is ok also. if you are not using RW discs, id turn off that part. Its not going to be able to fix a problem on a + or - R DVD, or a CD if non RW. You can use another program to verify the data seperate from the burn process. Now, i must go, as i do have a life other than AD, and my own problems are calling me. Dont mind me, im crazy, and crazy ppl act CRAZY sometimes..
You're welcome. And dont think all the members on AD are nutcases like me, some of them are very human. If you try the suggestions and still have problems, post back in this thread with the last failed burn log and we will see if anything else can be done. And even if we get a complete failure with Nero, we can always point you to other programs, free ones, that burn a DVD for you. Ill just throw in this about nero as i like jokes and humor also. Post back if you get it working..
I think I'm going to take your advice and just forget about packet writing software. I can run True Image and have it copy the image to a secondary hard drive -- not as simple and elegant a solution as a direct-to-DVD creation, but if the technology isn't there yet then it isn't there yet. So I'll just forget it. At least this method will let me create the image file. From the HDD, I can use regular burn methods to burn the image files to DVD. Thanks everyone for your posts.
