Now that the dvd recorder is coming down in price,and looks set to replace the vcr, what will happen re compatability. I mean, if I record a prog on a vcr i can take it elsewhere and guarantee it will play but with all the probs with home burnt dvd's whats gonna happen???? Frosty
its all going pvr, and htpc, they can read any format, and can do 1000+ things ur dvd player can't do. personally I would rather spend a little extra to and know that my player is going to play every format, than buy a stand alone, and have it play nothing. just my thoughts, but I believe everyone should have an HTPC to avoid INCOMPATABILITY, plus you can throw in a new drive when they come around for added compatiblility
