incorrect colors (desaturated) in most video players

I got this strange problem with colors - whenever I open a video file in most players, like Media Player Classic or BSplayer, the colors are a little desaturated. Other players (Winamp, Windows Media Player and even VIRTUALDUB), however, display the colors correctly. Check the screenshot below to see the obvious difference.

I have K-Lite Mega Codec Pack installed and all of the players seem to use ffdshow video decoder (check the tray area, there are 2 instances of ffd loaded - one used by MPC and one by BS)
There's no color manipulation in FFD, I've checked the config dialog. Same for BSplayer and MPC settings. So how come different players display the same file, using the same codec, in different colors?

I'm not sure here, but I think it happens with all video file types. But I've checked only AVI, MP4 and MPG so far.

It's not a big deal really, but it bugs me and I can't figure out what to do. Any idea? Please :)
    thanks in advance

Check the setting for overlay contrast/brighness/color and gamma
    in the video driver adjustments.
