Hello, I have a DVD that is supposedly Widescreen (it says so on the disk), but when I put it in my DVD player it plays it in a 4:3 ratio. It isn't just my DVD player because I also tried it on my computer and it tried to play it in the same ratio. I opened up DVD Shrink and AutoGK and both of them detected that it was natively 4:3. I had the exact same thing happen once before and I thought it was just a fluke, but I guess not. The titles are One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Deer Hunter if you need to know. Do you know what might be causing this and how I can go about fixing it? Thanks.
These movies are 4:3 letterboxed. They appear as widescreen on a regular TV. They can easily be converted to true 16:9 with DVD Rebuilder.
Well, I tried DVD Rebuilder and it didn't seem to change anything. (I might've done it wrong, but I don't think so.) I tried playing it on one of my old 4:3 TVs to see if it would have the bars on the top and bottom like Dialysis said, but it filled the entire screen. When I play it on my 16:9 TV it has the black bars on the sides. I got it from Netflix and on the movie page it lists two aspect ratios: Widescreen 1.85:1 and Pan-and-Scan 1.33:1. I'm assuming that I'm watching it in Pan-and-Scan instead of Widescreen, but I don't know how to change it. Sorry about this, but I'm really new to this and I'd like some further help and explanation if you'd be so kind.
