Ive just reformatted to win xp pro corp. edition. I had the burner that came with my comp, Hp300c, it still works, but, when ever i try to put a blank cd-r into my burner, the little autorun thing dosent popup notifining a blank cd type media. And when i double click the drive, it says D:/Is not accessible, Incorrect Function. BUT i can burn cd-rs with only Slysoft clone cd(windows integrated burning dosent work/nor nero). Only data cds work, but i cant burn music. But it can read dvd's fine, and burn too. Ive tried updating windows drivers, with a couple xp cds i have. That didnt fix it. So today i bought a new burner, Sony DL 8x DVD+-/CD-R/RW. before i installed it, i disabled my old one in device manager, and uninstalled it. Then installed my new one. Still problem, im totally lost. I think the windows driver that i have is corrupted that is used for cd burning. I guess i need newer drivers or something,(i cant use windows update). So is there a new driver, some one can provide for me? So does anyone have any input? I really dont want to reformatt agian.. Anything is appreciated.

PS, sorry if these SS's are too large.

Why isn't it recognized as a dvd-r/cd-r burner? not CD-ROM drive?

May have been a off day, holiday season and all.

Sorry. Have you checked for a firmware update for the burner. Sometimes that will assist a drive in reading the newer media codes.

You can check it here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_search.php
