Increase AVI quality?

    is this possible?? i have some AVI's tht when converted, look all pixilated on my screen. and does not have anything to do with my encoder as far as i know (at optimal setting, the disc data still does not fill the disc)

    so was wondering if i could boost the quality possibly,
