....i remember readin somewhere that if you decrease the dvd's to like 4.5Gb instead of 4.7Gb, it will make them MORE compatible with home dvd players........i ask because i've been using dvd2one and burning with roxioeasy cd creator, and one dvd-r worked perfectly, LOTT:TTT.......but all the others won't even start, or they'll be skippy or freeze up.........but they play fine on my pc...... so how true is this.....if it works i can just re-burn, but i don't wanna waste more dvd-r's if it's a load of codswallop. any help much appreciated -x-x-x-

I'll be honest that I have never heard that 4.5 GB disks are any more compatible than 4.7 GB ones... However, computer DVD readers (and thus the related software) is much more forgiving than set top DVD players. Computer DVD readers have a smaller and more precise laser that can read 'over' flaws in the disk and the IFOs (etc) better than set top players. Also, set top players are often very strict in their regulation of DVD (etc) standards. Often, DVD2ONE may incorrectly create the DVD media (i.e. loose a frame, etc) that will cause the set top DVD player to drop the disk altogether. Usually, all you can do here is try again...
no, my pc isn't skipping past the errors.......there just aren't any errors when i play it on my pc.......it plays perfectly....... i also remember someone saying that it was because some dvd players can't read the outer edge of the dvd-r's, so making it smaller helps prevent this problem..........but i don't think that's what's wrong because my movie either doens't play at all......or it freezes (for 1-5 seconds each time) or skips........but all the way trhough the movie......the first one happens about 2 minutes into the film.......... maybe i could try burning with nero or somehting instead of roxio easy cd creator??? but i don't understand why one of them worked and all the others didn't.......since i used the same media and exacty the same processes........
well, i tried burning with nero..........and..........................................................................................yup, it worked perfectly... so here's a tip.......DON'T EVER USE ROXIO EASY CD CREATOR TO BURN DVD-MOVIES. EVER., ha ha. well, anyways, i'm glad it's all working now, and i can watch m,y movies in full surround sound instead of putting up with the stereo output of the SVCD's i made
