My laptop has 3GB of RAM and 148GB of hard drive. How may I increase the virtual memory? I am running an architectural program that requires that. The program crashes in the middle of an operation. Is anyone there that can helpme? I will be very happy, I am stuck in a middle of school work. I have reached many people with no answers, I hope that this is the right place to find some solution. Thankyou very much.
start>control panel>performance and maintenance>system>advanced tab. then click settings under performance. then again click the advanced tab and then change under the virtual memory heading. then just adjust the virtual memory to your needs. hope that is clear enough and helps.
Thank you for your information I already did that part. I have a problem with the second part of the process that is to switch from 2GB to 3GB the memory in a system setting. Actually is to increase de virtual memory in order to run the program. I have all the instructions but when I look for the boot.ini, the note pad hasn't the information that suppose to have. these are the instructions: 1. Right click My computer. Click properties 2.In the System Properties dialog box, click Avanced tab. 3.On the advanced tab, under Statup and recovery, click Settings. 4.In the Start up and Recovery dialog box, under System startup, click Edit. The Windows boot.ini file will be open in Notepad. When I open the Notepad file doesn't have the information that I need in order to preceed with the change. This is de information that should be there maybe with some differences: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional"/fastdetect. I should modify that information to switch to 3GB like this: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional3GB"/3GB/fastdetect. Does anybody knows how to do it?
