initializing DVD-R in Panasonic DMR-E85H

I have a Panasonic DMR-E85H and I cannot initialize a DVD-R disc.

I dubbed a TV program (football game) to a DVD-R that I had previously recorded to my HD.
I can play the disc on my Panasonic so it did record successfully.

What I cannot do is acess the Top Menu to tell the recorder to initialize (finalize) the disc. When I push the Top Menu button the record shifts back the on screen display from the disc menu back to the TV display.

you don't have to hit "Top Menu", ... not at the machine right now, but from regular viewing screen, hit DVD (Top right of remote) hit Functions, then come down to "Disc Setting", somewhere in that menu should have Finalize, like I said , not at the machine right now, looking at the manual.

Thanks; that worked. Machine works well but the manual is the worst.

 

I agree, most of what I know about the thing is trial and error, a little from the manual to get me started, then it's "wing it"
