I bought liteon 20x dvd write drive. I have a dell 510. Pulled out old drive, jumper setting on cl. my top cd-dvd rom drive on cl also. I then installed new drive same as my old drive. When I turned on cpu, black screen and alarm sound, but I was able to get to systems info. Upon which the boot sequence stated this: floppy drive: not present sata hard drive: IDE hard drive: not present usb cd-rom drive: usb device: not present What wiring pin belongs on ma, sl, cl. There are 2 pin sets, one follows the other to the end. The end pin set going into my cd-rom drive. Windows did turn on after hitting esc. from system info.. Alarm stopped. There seems to be a few bugs running windows. Trying to save a few bucks, hope i did not make it worse. First time I opened cpu door. Do not want it to be last!
I put new drive same as the old drive, cl. I was just trying new jump sequence. top drive as ma and new drive as sl. Still have same problem, black screen until I go to F2 and then exit out of that, then windows pops up.
