How do I get to use the whole 40 GB ?

I installed Xecuter 2.3b lite (it came with X2 4983 BIOS).
Created Evo-X 3955 boot CD with menu to prepare an old used IBM 40 GB HDD (using tutorial material from various forums).
Removed original HDD and attached the IBM HDD.
Booted the Evo-X disc no problem -- menu came up.
Selected "Prepare HDD" which formatted the 40 GB to create C:, E: and F: and also copied a copy of the cdrive content that I put on the CD (from the original C: drive).
    Removed the CD and rebooted.
Xbox came up with Evo-X with the menus.
    All works fine.

    Problem ?

Well problem is that most of the 40 GB is not visible.
Evo-X tells me only about 5 GB is available on E:
and only 2.1 GB on F:

I updated the BIOS to Evo-X M7 with Eject Fix.
and repeated the whole saga of formating & preping the drive. Made no difference.

How do I get to use the whole 40 GB ?

you could try reflashing the bios too. I beleive the storage barrier before LBA28 was around 2gigs if I'm not mistaken. Doesn't really make sense, but perhaps the bios is whacked. Especially since the chip came with the bios preflashed.

    All,
    Thanks for tips.
I tried the RAW commands to format the drive via FlashFXP but no joy :(
I changed the BIOS to Evox M7 but no joy :(
I tried different Dashbord (UnleashX) to format - no joy :(
I tried another identical 40 GB drive - JOY :))
    E: was ~ 5GB
    F: was ~ 33 GB

I took the first drive to a PC and WinXP only saw ~8 GB !. I couldn't even use DISKPART to clean it -- it too would NOT see it as 40 GB.
Something happened to that drive -- now a door stop :(
    Such is life
