I have a HP Pavillion 7867 with a Pentium 3 cpu using windows xp home edition. All of a sudden on start up it flashes
"fan failer computer shutting down in 5 minutes" and it shuts down.I go into the bios alright without it shutting down but there is nothing there referencing the cpu that I can get to.I installed a new cpu and fan but to no avail and the fan works but I get the same flashing warning. The fan that I replaced did not plug into the mother board but into a series with the drives.I did get a fan and plugged it into the motherboard where it says "cpu fan"and it did not spin Any body familar with this problem? Thank you in advance.

Your motherboard is probably on the verge of death.
