Hello, I finally upgraded my computer myself for the first time. I purchased the following ~ Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L Mobo ~ Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 CPU 3GHz 4M L2 3.0GHz ~EVGA 512-P2-N756-TR GeForce 8600 GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 ~Kingston 1 gig DDR2 Strip (for now) Tower already had older HD, Dvd Drives, and PSU which worked fine. Although they haven't been used since i'd say February when my older motherboard fried System currently starts up, LED lights work, Fan on Video card Fan spins, CPU Fan Spins all fine...Pc powers up on the screen the Gigabyte logo appears and is ready for setup. My issue is I tried my Keyboard to enter setup..but nothing..I get the 3 lights that flash over the Numeric keys, and then they turn off just as fast... Can't hit any F-Keys Del tab Etc...Mouse lights up but and stays lit.(but not on a screeen where I can test to see if the pointer even moves).. Currently i'm trying a ps/2 KB..the Mouse is USB...my Gaming Keyboard is USB but I need to install drivers before that one works... Currently running an OEM version of Vista on this Hard Drive, incase that matters But there are no warning, Error Messages of any Kind. I've checked to see if the strip was defective, it seems fine, I even tried a different slot But no difference... i'm out of options, can anyone assist me? THANK YOU!
I can't get the keyboard to work in order to hit any keys..Let alone turn on legacy Keyboard support support..I've been trying with a ps/2 Keyboard. Just no function is aplicable after power up.
Does the PC stay on the Gigabyte logo if you don't press anything? If the system is POSTing properly, it should go past this screen and give you at least a blank page or a message it can't find the OS, or better still actually load windows. If it's stuck at the Gigabyte logo then there is a fault somewhere which is preventing the system from getting past the POST screen. Reseat your RAM and check power connections. If you have another stick of RAM you can test, I recommend you do so.
well it gives me options on the bottom of the screen. But I can't choose any of them anyway since the keyboard won't allow me to hit F12 or antthing. i've tried without the HD plugged in just to see if it would get past this logo which would tell me something is wrong with the windows i'm running perhaps...But in this case I can't get into windows...And currently only have 1 strip of ram which I just recived. Power connections are firmly pressed in each item needing it. All beeps, lights and sounds work normally until logo screen So it's not setting up I need to do? it should go right into windows without setting anything up if it's connected currectly?
It should at least pass the logo screen. The fact that you can't press any buttons on a PS/2 keyboard suggest the POST may have crashed.
