okay heres the deal... i have a liteonit dvd lightscribe burner and i wanted to install another dvd burner but everytime i connect the second dvd burner under slave the computer does not turn on.. it stays on the windows xp screen. and when it does turn on it doesent show any drives that i have connected so can anyone help me please?? i have a custom case amd athlon 1.7gh 512mb ram 300gb hdd
Well in the back of the burner there will be this plastic tihng thats on two pins. Take that out and the burner should have a guide telling you where ot should go to make it cable select. For example, if it's on master then it sould have like MA and that means its going to be on master if you put the jumper there. CS would be cable select. Just place it vertically on the two pins that are CS.
a7xsoad, don't you mean cable select? cobra_svt on the back of both burners between the audio connector is 3 pairs of pins, cable select, slave & master from left to right. sounds like you have both drives jumpered as master or slave. set 1 as master & the 2nd as slave.

just do 1 as master & 2nd as slave. what is reason for 2 dvd burners as is better to have a dvd rom & a dvd burner?
ok but ive tried that already and everytime i hook up both of them the computr just keeps loading in the microsoft screen for ever and doesnet stop so do u know why?>
by jumpered differently what do u mean?? like one master and the other slave? cause that i got correct
is the master drive at the end of the cable or in the middle? look at the drive cable carefully to see if has a hole thru in 1 wire purposely there as that tells you the master drive has to be at the end. try another ide cable.
yeah i tried that already with another cable and the same thing happened so i have no clue on what to do next?
