installing a second hard drive

    Okay so I have a 300 gigabyte maxtor HDD, and i have the boot disk for it and everything, but my question is, how do i install it? Do i put it on slave or master or other on the jumper? I have it all hooked up but it just doesnt seem to work... thanks for the help

    what's the connection type? Sata? IDE?
    What's the original hard drive type in the system?

    also depends on what u want
    u probably want it to be a slave because all ur windows and system stuff is on ur original one

    well, what exactly do slave & master mean? my HDD is a Maxtor DiamondMax 10 6L300R0 300GB PATA133

    have ur original hd as master and ur new 300gb as a slave drive

    to set the drive as master or slave is done by a jumper. info is printed ontop of drive or in booklet that came with drive. can only have 1 master & 1 slave on each ide cable.
