I connected the xbox and laptop w/crossover cable and I made a good boot disk w/ Evox. Im using Flash FXP

My problem now is installing the evox to my HD. I renamed default to evoxdash as it said in the tutorial and copied that the evox.ini file ( after i edited it for static ip yes and the ip address im using ) and no luck when i power up it doesn't boot to the evox dash it just hangs at the ebox screen w/ executer rox my box at the bottom? Is it because my bios is an X3? I don't know where to go from here. Any thoughts?

    Thanks, Like usual. :-D

ok it depends on what bios ur usin. u cant just make it evoxdash.xbe it might not work like in this case. u should get evox m8 bios. it works with all versions of the xbox. also get evtool to change the loading sequence. if u have evoxdash.xbe in ur c driev change it to load evoxdash.xbe from the c drive first then u have to flash the the bios. u should use 256k. another great bios thats special for xecuter 3 is x3 bios. get that on xbins. theres a tutorial here: http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/xbins.php at xbox-scene.com flash that bios as 1024k. it will bring a config screen in which u can change the loading sequence from there. also do u have an Instant Messenger? i can help u live with it since school is pretty much out and theres no homewrok anymore :p

Thanks. My xbox is a V1.0 I realized that the password in the bios was changed ( By Me) and that messes up the bios. I was told to flash a new bios to get rid of the password and then reload my latest bios leaving the password alone. My problem is I didn't hook up the eject wires when installing the Mod chip which you need to do in order to boot to the bios screen by holding down the power and eject buttons. That is my weekend project. If you know a better way let me know. Thanks for the help.

u should install the power button mod that came with x3. i have x3 so i know like all the stuff about it. u dont hold down the power and eject buttons all u have to do is turn it on like regular and load into a bios bank that u havent flashed yet. never hold the power and eject buttons together for flashing u can screw up big time. if all 8 of the bios banks get messed up, the separate chip is what u load by using power and eject. u can flash the backup chip but if u do it wont be a backup anymore. what u should definitely do is install the front switch thingamabob so u can see if the chip is on, or if u loaded the backup chip, and u can select bios banks.

[bold]if u tell me ur screen name for any instant messenger i can help u a lot better. i got plenty of time :-D[/bold]

Thanks Xstation, I didn't install the switch banks because the reason I got the chip is my 6 year old son. I just feel he or his 2 yr old bother will mess w/ the switches and mess things up. So now I have it woking and don't want to mess w/ it. I can back up games to the hd or make backups of disks. So im set untill I get the itch to customize my box again. One question I do have is: I flashed the latest X3 bios and stupidly put the password in so I was forced to re flash w/ an older bios ( 1859 ) which got rid of the password. I didn't go back to the newest bios because everything was working. What will the new bios do for me if I decide to do it.

Instant messenger in no good for me because I have aol dial up and hardley ever use it. Thanks anyway. I am sure all the people who need help in the forum is going to love you though. Have a great day.

the bios you are currently running is a beta version, which means it may contain some bugs...i would recommend flashing with something a little more stable...i used the x3 1959 for the longest time, and never found a bug...but it is up to you, it is your xbox, do as you wish.
