If its a USB hard drive you need a USB Extreme disc, otherwise you need a HDConnect kit and a HD Loader or HD Advance disc.

if its external id hope its usb compat. what you need to make sure of is that its usb 2.0 compat. and then yes you need the usb boot disc or i believe the new swap magic discs have the usb loader included =)

Doesn't matter since all versions of PS2 do not have USB 2.0.

For the last time, the Slim PS2 does NOT have USB 2.0. This is a rumor that got totally out of control. Repeat, just so we're clear:

SLIM PS2 DOES NOT HAVE USB 2.0!

    Hey Guys,

I've been trying to research the external hard drive on a V12 myself and it seems that USBExtreme is the only working method out there. I have heard nothing but bad reviews about it from other forums. I'd like to know your inputs as well. In a nut shell is USBExtreme crap?

    Thanks
