I can't detatch the door paneling without breaking the plastic things that lock the paneling on. Is there a way to get this done without buying any special tools?

    Thanks

Use a flat firm instument to slip between the panel & the door frame. Preferably something plastic which is wide so that you can then twist it to pry the panel off. Maybe like a rigid plastic or wooden 12 inch ruler. Hold it short so that it doesn't break easily. Since you are doing this for the first time I wouldn't be surprised if the clips are quite hard to pry and the ruler might break. Don't worry too much if you ruin the plastic clips since you can easily replace them and they don't cost much. Try not to ruin you panel or your paint job. You could use a flat broad knife or flat screw driver but be careful that when you pry the panel you don't ruin the panel or the paint job. If you go this route then cover the knife or flat point screwdriver with a piece of thick cloth if possible. Here's a tip. Try to pry the clip at any one of the lower ends then slide the instrument along to find where the next clip is and repeat the process first unclipping the lower end and moving around to the upper end. Remember to remove the screws that hold the door handle and the door lock before you start to pry the panel form the door frame. If you have never done it before have a look at your manual or call the dealer or a nearby mechanic/garage that has knowledge about your car and try to obtain info as to where the clips are located if you don't feel confident about experimenting. Also try not to ruin the protective plastic which lines the door frame and prevents water from getting inside the frame. If you accidentally detach it don't panic, you can reattach it with some Silicone sealant or if you tear it you can patch it with silicone and a piece of plastic. Of course good 'ole duct tape can also be used but a more waterproof seal can be obtained with the previous method. Last thing, after you have unclipped all the clips gently pull the lower end of the panel away from the frame then slide the whole thing up so as to unclip the weather strip from the frame. You have to slip the lock pull out of the panel and slide the panel up over it during this process as well. You could probably use an extra pair of hands while tackling this project. Best of luck.

    Thanks, Jamzbond. Owe you one.

I'll have to try once the snow melts. I have been inside a door before, so some of the stuff will be familiar to me. Those pins, or clips, are the only thing that's giving me trouble.
