I have the xenium chip and a motherboard without the orginal hdd. Is there a way that I can put in a new hdd from another x-box and make it work, meaning unlocking the hdd and then locking it back up?
First off WHY!?! Secondly, yes if you know the 'Unlock Code' to the HDD in question and are able to get it unlocked there should be nothing to stop you from installing that into a different XBOX™. And then useing something like 'ConfigMagic' to relock it again with a new code based off the new XBOX™. Now back to my first queston why?... Why bother even wasteing your time with this? When you could just as well drop in a 100~400Gb HDD into said XBOX™ and the second box never need be harmed?
Well again, and I'm sorry to break it to you like this. And others have pointed out my taste for being overtly blunt on such mattters. But, I believe in telling it like it is. And if you do not have access to, or can recall the 'HDD-Key' to your original HDD you can pretty much Chuck it. As it may as well be dead for what it's worth! The only other hope you might have left for it. Is if you have ever used 'ConfigMagic' before to unlock / re-lock the HDD in question. then you could try a DOS Program called ATAPWD and the master Password 'TeamAssembly' to unlock it. If you have no clue to what 'Configmagic' is or you never used it on that HDD then that Drive really is dead! As it will be next to impossible generate the proper HDD-(unlock)Key in order to use it agian... Sorry for the bad news. =(
