ok I got a new 512mb DDR 400 ram stick for my PC.

I got 2 free slots but can't manage to fit it in, in the picture below you see two kinda indents on either side of the RAM stick, I can only manage to fit the stick in the top groove and not down to the bottom like my other sticks in there..

    Am I doing something wrong?

as long as its the right type of ram for your motherboard, and the little catch on either side of the slot is open, use a little bit more force. Iv usually lined them up, then push down on one end, then the other, then middle

is your motherboard running sdram or ddr as 2 different memory sticks. sdram has 2 notches across the bottom whereas ddr has 1knotch off center on the bottom.

Just to add it will fit in ONE way ONLY! No-one seems to have pointed that out yet!! The groove running along the bottom edge (where the connector strips are) is off centre.
Even when you get it the correct way round, it still takes a little bit of gentle persuasion to make them go in!

And yes I got 2x256mb DDR 400 sticks in there already so when I bought this one I was assuming this took DDR 400 too.

if you already have two sticks in, u should be able to see the little sticker on the front of each stick, your new one will have one as well, make sure all stickers are facing the right way, line it up with the catches on the board open, and push down on either end.

Or, eject one of the existing sticks by undoing the clips and push it back home. This will show you how much force is needed and the orientation

Or, take it to your computer dealer and ask them to install it
