My laptop had a terrible virus and i needed to reformat however my laptops cd drive is broken and I was unable to boot from a usb. So I took the HDD out and attached it to my desktop through an ide usb converter. It's recognized by the desktop, so my question is:

what is the easiest way to install windows to the laptop drive now? Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

won't work. you need to install from the laptop. completely different hardware will break windows.

If it will not boot from USB, but can still read from USB, you might be able to modify this method a little, just load bartpe to the laptop harddrive instead of the flash drive, then boot to the laptop hard drive to start the XP install. (I have never tried this)
