my son trashed our laptop a very respectable hp zv6130 amd 64 3200 with a 15.4 widescreen nice size hd and it was very reasonable to buy at the time about 2 years ago for £700 the a holes at my insurance have just offered me a toshiba sat pro a200se-24r, wort a meagre £380 and im suppose to pay £100 excess for the privalage of getting this tacky looking piece of crap, i know laptops have come down in price but the spec i bought at the time didnt equate to a budget laptop as now all they want is to fob you off with some second rate pile of olde tosh i hate insurance companys
Hahahaha.. typical. Welcome to rip off world. I insure my hardware in the world of Chanceit.inc.. It breaks, I'm screwed.. but at least I haven't paid out loads and loads for nothing.
safety valve my arse with coments like yours varnull it would make anybody wanna f... rant even more ha fu.... ha ta mate up yours to
[Warning, the following comment may seem offensive to some, but the some that find it offensive have problems in their own right and probably shouldn't be on the internets anyway.] (Safe enough for you). Seriously, what do you want us to say--that you are the most unfortunate person in the world and that we should send you money? Varnull added plenty of depth to the conversation, and coming back with an insult is only going to make people like you less. And as this goes: Can anyone translate for me? I don't think I understand what it says. "ha ta mate up yours to" Hot tomato up your stew? I recommend turning the heat to medium and letting the meat simmer before adding the tomatoes.
I believe that's some form of Britain-ese. Along the lines of "Comments like yours lend creedence to the futility of a subforum designated Safety Valve, varnull. Such comments would make anyone want to further release their pent-up frustrations in a possibly insulting manner. This makes my paunch jiggle with jollies. Goodbye. Anal penetrations for you, as well." If anything, it comes across as...support for ol' Jan's cyber-lovin'? Insurance companies are a scam. They make their money by profiting off of odds and deception. If you don't like what they're tossing you, get legal help. They're not being particularly unfair, from what I can tell. Most insurance plans (that people actually buy) require payment of a deductible. And it looks as those they are giving you the depreciated cost of your laptop. It's just like when you buy a car: unless you have some amazing insurance, if you buy a $45,000 car, and wreck it 4 years later, you aren't getting 45 grand. You'll get whatever the blue-book value is, plus the value of whatever modifications you had, given you provide receipts. Best advice: learn how a game works before you play it. Otherwise, you'll see every call the referee makes as a bad one, even when they're spot on.
Yeah.. ripoff world. When my car was stolen (second one in 4 months) they offered me £12 even though my premiums were £29 a month.. Yeah I'm bitter.. I'm so bitter I haven't got a car now, because I couldn't afford another.. They are nor ripping you off either.. It is possible to replace exactly what you had for the price they are waving about http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-HP-Pavili...goryZ177QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem You are crying about a 3 year old laptop.. Big f-in deal.. It was wrecked by a family member because you are STUPID enough to leave something you value in range of a child.. Lucky it was just a laptop instead of a kettle full of boiling water or a f-ing chainsaw eh?? Obviously in strupid f---er world you win a pretty good prize. Consider yourself lucky they offered you a brass farthing because I would class the loss as a direct result of your carelessness.. I didn't have a choice but park my car on the street, you did have a choice about leaving something valuable within reach of a child. No sympathy and no remorse.. tough luck.. s--t happens. get used to it.. It won't be the last time.
That is possibly the greatest comment I have ever read. So good in fact, it brought a tear to my eye... Thank you.
hehehehehe.. when you get to my age you have seen it all, and had it all with these insurance companies. I had to have "buildings" insurance on the last house I owned. Licence to print f-in money IMHO. Nothing was covered.. and I mean nothing that could happen to your house couldn't be wriggled out of with the 9 pages of small print. Broken windows? Vandalism (contact law enforcement) or negilgence.. Chimney collapse, lack of preventitive maintenance.. earthquake damage.. act of god.. flood due to burst pipes (frost damage.. negligence or act of god) and so on. Worst part of it... you don't have a choice in it.. like vehicle insurance it is COMPULSORY!! So no sympathy.. lucky I was quite nice first post by agreeing these companies are in the business of the "legalised ripoff" which in this case they don't seem to be. They have offered a fair replacement on a "price by price" basis. How many people dliberately smash an older laptop hoping to get a brand new one for free?? I work in the IT industry and I would estimate that 60% of insured laptops get lost stolen or smashed after 3 years.. My second post is what I was actually thinking, not including my doubts that the child did it.. more likely (from an insurance assessors view) it is malicious damage with intent to commit a fraudulent claim by laying the blame on somebody who is unable (by virtue of age) to be asked to answer.. before you say BS!.. my first husbands brother was an insurance assessor, so I know of what I speak..
my only reason for posting on safety valve was because i was gutted by the replacement offer for my l/top, im old enough and ugly enough to fight all my own battles, as for motor insurance , i had a woman in a bloody great range rover reverse around my brand new merc vito van while i was paying for materials at a timber yard i came out to see her rip my front wing and bumper off, i claimed against her insurance but due to the only witness being her husbands mate i end up with loosing 2 years no claims as she said i did it and you dont think i have anything to be bitter about towards insurance companys, and as for derogatory comment about my child ( go play with inanimate objects on a duel carriage way) he 14 and sensible enough to be around such an object, i dont take kindly to insinuations of insurance fraud in any sense of the word, insurance is for accidents which do actuall happen. i dont need anybodys pity or happy words, if you think your comments are just then i respectfully think your view points are slightly deranged, yes insurance companies are rip off merchants but if we didnt need insurance against our own frailties they wouldnt be in business, id be happy to have my (as one person stated) 3 year old crappy laptop back repaired or replaced with the same model, as i has served me well for everything i use it for, but insurance like for like doesnt match up anymore. screw the world im off to live in a hobbit hole, its far safer and no idiots to bother me s.v my r s e
ha ha ha, poor lad comes here to hear sympathy and you folks slam the door in his face, he'd be better off with state farm! ....except the lizard people.......
I saw a car driving down the road the other day with a jacked up rear end with a message in white shoe polish that read, "State Farm sucks, they won't repair my bumper."
Meh. You'll find complaints about all insurance companies, just like that. State Farm is one of the highest ranked companies by customers, last I checked.
hhhhhaaaaaaahhhhhhaaaa the insurance company ended up giving me £450 in cash so i bought a dell vostro 1500 , best ever, t8300 core2duo 3gig memory 250gig sata and a geforce 8600m gt graphics for £580 worth kicking up for in the end
There you go... It's always better to take the cash over the offered replacement. Then go bargain hunting... Insure it with a different company, and that way you can have another new one in 18 months.
i wanna get back to your car varnull.did i read it right that they gave you 12 pounds for it?what kind of car was it?christ,a winter beater here in canada will still run you 3 or four hundred dollars.
