There is an Intel D5400XS (D94664) eATX Motherboard for sale on Ebay for a bid of $259, buy it now of $359 [Item 140337651412]; supposedly a "manufacturers sample", but in working condition. I've been stuck with a Supermicro X7DA8 motherboard for 3 years now, and it's been nothing but one problem after another (if others have had good luck with this MB, great; it's possible I just got a real lemon), and I'm really looking for another MB. However, although the seller has a 100% rating, he has an "exchange" refund policy only, and has failed to reply to a couple of questions. The auction ends in less than 4 hours, and I'd really like to purchase the MB, but I'm a bit leery at this point in time to throw close to 300 bucks total down the drain. NewEgg has the same MB open box for about $469, so I may go that route. Any comments appreciated. I hope I didn't break any rules by stating names of other sites. It's been a long time since I've posted. Thanks.
The D5400XS, a.k.a. Skulltrail is one I see more often than any other dual LGA771 board, and performs pretty well with a pair of QX9775s, but I don't know what it's like running Xeons. I know someone who uses one for a gaming system and has had very good success.
