sup ppl i hav a new hp pavilion notebook with the intel extreme graphics 2 for moblie and 512 ram.I am trying to change my shared video memory but i cannot find where to do it...when ever i go in bios(i think its bios...press f2 at boot) but on the intel like all other sites it says the memory can be changed but none tell how or where 2 go 2 do it.Below is wats happening Minimum Graphics Memory: 32 MB Maximum Graphics Memory: 64 MB Graphics Memory in Use: 8 MB
ya i have the same problem. i have a dell inspiron 700m and i hear that there is a way to increase the shared video memory from 64MB to 128 but i cant seem to find a place that describes how to do so. PLEASE HELP!!
ok, I have pavillion and I sadly discovered that I need 64MB video to run a new game... so logically I tried the BIOS settings... but it wouldn't let me change it. BIOS upgrade didn't help either. Finally HP support told me that tha ratio between system memory and video memory (for cmputers with shared video memory) depends only on the memory altogether, i.e. if I have 512MB RAM currently, I have 480 system memory and 32MB video.... if I want to increase video to 64, I must have 1GB memory altogether; and it is allocated automatically... I hope this helps you guys... I talked to two technicians and they told me the same thing. It makes sense anyway...
ya i talked to a dell technician about my problem. i guess there isnt a way to change the maximum of shared video memory. the pavilions' integrated video card technology must be very different than dell's because on the 700m if an application is loading and it needs 64MB of video memory than it automatically allocates that portion of the RAM and applies it to video memory. that would be strange for a pavilion to always have 64MB of vid memory loaded even if the machine only needed 8MB, for example. i guess if you only had a total of 256MB of RAM in your laptop then you wouldnt want 64 of that to be used just for the graphics. for any computer, however, i wouldnt recommend using less than 512MB of RAM anyways, since your machine would be incredibly slow. i would still like to know if anybody knows a little more about intel's integrated video cards and how they work..thanks!!
