Hi, is it possible to swap CPUs between laptops? Did the research and the motherboard supports the CPU. Swaping 1.66ghz C2D for 1.88ghz C2d

is a lot more work to do that on a laptop then a desktop. does the 1.66ghz laptop say it can take the 1.88ghz cpu?

It really isn't that hard to do a swap; it is basically the same as swapping a desktop CPU...it just takes a lot more work to open the case.

Honestly, some of the heatsink assemblies that I have seen in desktops make the worst laptop coolers look easy...and many of the coolers are extremely easy to remove, clean, and reinstall...even by desktop standards. My biggest problem when changing a laptop CPU is usually either getting some plastic clips to pop out, or trying to figure out where the last screw was meant to go. Oh, and sometimes there is a non-reusable heat transfer pad that you have to get a replacement for, that can be a PITA.
