I picked up a broken xbox at a pawnshop for $10 the other day. I got it home and it boots to the dashboard just fine but if you have a game in it a message comes up and says the it needs service and to call micro. I hotswapped it and looked at the files with xplorer360 and the E partition is missing. I then made a xboxhdm disk and when I try to make a new hd from scratch it says that the harddrive is not locked but locking is enabled. From what ive read that means the harddrive is bad.

Since I can get into the dash is there anyway to get a copy of the eeprom since I can still boot the dash? The i could just get a new hd and fix this thing right?

oh yeah I guess I should mention that it plays music cds just fine and it had a dvd key in it and boots dvds just fine too, so i guess the dvd drive is fine if that makes a difference. When I go to memory it shows that I have no blocks free though
