Really is weird. I just flashed my 360 about 2 weeks ago. Played 2 AGBX verified backups. I'm still not banned. As a matter of fact, I've put quite a few hours into MW2 online. As for one being banned without playing any backups, thats really weird.

ok so I just got a xbox and I've been on live so I'm assuming I've done these updates. Now are you saying I would theoretically be safe or unsafe to flash???

Interesting indeed ... however, this only means that if the first two tests are truly an effective way to avoid the Ban-Hammer, its only temporary.

Whatever was put into those last Live updates will be put into all future updates to take care of the "Box 1 & 2" consoles they missed.

What makes it unavoidable is the fact that we must accept new Live updates in order to stay on Live. This then will turn "Box 1 & 2" consoles into "Box 3 & 4" consoles since they will already have iXtreme v1.6 loaded them.

IF you're a "Box 1 & 2" survivor, perhaps reverting back to stock firmware before accepting future Live updates might help bypass the banhammer IF this works. However, the hammer is inevitable for Lite-on drives due to their inability to flash back to stock firmware.

well if you believe the results then it is obvious the firmware is detectable in some way... considering a console with NO GAMES played was banned...

either that or the method used to flash the console (i.e. running off xbox360 power) but that wouldnt make sense cause if they did them all the same way then they woulda all been banned for that ...

imho i'd say the firmware is detectable... its not 100% cause there are people/consoles which havent gotten flagged yet but this is far beyond detecting a bad rip/angle ...

Notice that on #3, they say no backup games have been played. They do not say that no games were played. Although they do not specify.

It isn't necessarily the firmware being directly read. It could also be original games being played and giving responses different than a stock firmware would give. The amount of time responses take have been a security issue in the firmware in the past.

Out of curiosity, which system category would they fit in? Received update with stock firmware or received update with modified firmware?

so in therey if you play offline with modded firmware and flash back to stock every time you connect to live. you wont get detected based on the validity of thease tests

Stop telling people stupid crap. This is false. You will still get banned.

I don't think he is saying that is safe, he is simply pointing out that both his consoles fit into the same category as the original posters banned units, he updated after modding and is still on Live, the original poster's units were banned using the same process.. As well as many others, but this does say that the ones that eren't banned may yet get the ban hammer because it may be just luck... so far

I restore both my benQ back to original firmware and I am safe still dont know if that helps anyone but if you have the means to flash just reflash your original back on it>\.

this appears to mean that the update detects the firmware. But it only checks at the time of the update. That's why im not banned because io havent done these updates yet. I bet if you buy a new xbox now and update then flash you will be fine

that is possible, but I don't think this proves it, maybe if anyone that has done the same that gets banned says so, there may also be other tests that continue after the update... It may make it safer but just a few reports is not what I would risk my console on..

Just to throw this in the mix. I had a BenQ that hasn't been on live since May 2009. Less than a week ago I got online with iX 1.61. I applied the updates and was able to sign into Live. I immediately shut off the console and restored stock firmware and got back online. I have been on Live since then playing MW2.
