This is odd. My problem is that certain files may, or may not, play audio. This is, I think, a file based problem. I have an ugly betty episode (s03e14) The audio almost plays in powerdvd (background, no speech and eventually nothing), xbmc plays the beginning background, over and over again - no speech, vlc starts with the background and then simply goes silent. I have no clue what is going on. Is there a good diagnostic that could tell me what may be going on or does anybody have a clue?

    Thank you..............

Check your speaker settings and test all your speekers...you might have a loose cable or incorrect settings. If everything seems fine, you could try putting it through VideoReDo or something like that.

All speakers are tested and working fine. I suspect that the problem of no sound is simply in a bad file. The problem of background overwhelming speech is an entirely different problem which, sometimes, I can work around (switching from program to program and dinking with the audio settings). My problem is that I can't seem to figure out just what fixes it as I get frustrated and just start pushing buttons. (I know, lousy practice). I suspect, however, that somebody knows how to fix this one?

    Thank you.......

Thanks for the reply - I will give it a shot.

I am finding it interesting that should is a bigger problem, with videos, than the actual video itself.

    Thanks again!
