I know this is under PC however I thought it would still apply. I am very frustrated and confused after going through this day after day with my dad. We are debating whether I should get an extra Internal or external Hard Drive for my laptop. I know what you guys are thinking "most laptops cant have two HD's" but I have a Dell Inspiron 1721 which has an Extra HD slot built into it. The internal is very easy to install as I have opened it up and looked, but it looks as if i may need some sort of HD holder. As for the external they are some what cheaper but are more of a hassle especially if I am carrying it around with my laptop everywhere. Whether it be internal or external I am hoping to put linux on the HD so i can Dual boot with both Vista and Linux, I have never used linux before but with reading I hopefully will quickly adapt. Any comments please post..

I would go with an internal drive in an external enclosure. I got two enclosures and hard drives about 2 months ago. I wish that I would have done it sooner.

I use one of the externals with my wife's laptop.
