Since I installed ZoneAlarm, Ewido and Spywareblaster 2 of my computers "disconect" from the net after 3-4 hours of not usage and I have to re-boot to get my connection back.

My connection settings are set to "LAN Auto detect-proxy settings". I use XP Prof SP2 on DSL (SBC).

    Any ideas?

are those settings in internet explorer, tools, connections
all those boxes should be unchecked, unless you are using a proxy server ? .... are you ?

Before you installed those programs did the pc disconnect after 4 hours ? sounds more like you might have an infected pc .

instead of rebooting your pc's just try unplugging your router and plugging it back in, sounds like it affected your router, assuming that you have one with the 3 computers. maybe a firmware upgrade.

Actually, I called my DSL provider and everything on their end is working just fine. Seems like I changed the "keep alive" feature and when the internet is not in use the computer disconects from the net.

I think I will have to reinsall the program. I tried ZoneAlarm Tech Support but they do not have anything related to this issue and what I found did not help.

the keep alive feature is in your router ? what program do you have to reinstall ? If it is the dsl dialer and you have xp go to programs, accessories , communications , new connection wizard. You will also need your user id a nd password for your dsl provider.

I removed ZoneAlarm and re-installed again. We'll see how it goes. The DSL connection is working fine.

I'll leave this PC alone for a few hours and see if when I get back the internet connection is "alive".

Okay guys. For those of you that may be interested here is the solution to my problem. Reinstalling the ZoneAlarm did not work. I simply adjusted the Internet Zone Security settings to Mediun and that did it.
