a fe months ago i got a HP pavilion dv9428nr laptop (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?docname=c01062257&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN). things have been going good with it all, but recently (last 2 weeks or so) my internet has been acting up. I have a netgear WGRv6 wireless router and my home comp is hard wired to it and i dont have any problems. If i connect directly to the modem, no problems, but when i connect wirelessly with the laoptop, it fizzles out. Ill look at about 5 web pages np, and then its like the connections was lost. The signal strength is excellent. sometimes just hitting the refresh button works, other times i have to sht down firefox all together and try it again. I've also upgraded and downgraded the firmware, and no luck. 3 or 4 times, the internet connection was totally lost and i got a error saying the DNS server was down, even though my hard wired comp connected fine. Any suggestions? or is my router just crapping out on me?
it could be that both the modem and the router cold be trying to act as dhcp servers try turning dhcp off in the modem or try turning it off in both and trying static IP's
