I have IE7.0. Everytime that I try and close an Internet Explorer window, it won't close normally. I always get the "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem. We are sorry for the incovenience" message. This is particularly annoying, because even if I'm just trying to close a pop up from IE, all the IE windows will close when I click on "Send Error Report." It doesn't seem to matter whether I'm closing the Main IE window, or if I'm closing a Pop up, I always get the same error. If I'm trying to close an individual tab in the new IE7.0, it seems to work okay. But when I try and exit out of IE7.0 entirely, it never closes without giving me the error message. This problem used to only happen when I was at hotels, but now it seems to be happening when I'm home too. Any ideas?

    Thanks very much.
    Jay.

    Hi registry,

Sounds like a browser hijacker to me, but try re-installing IE 7 before anything. Could just be some files are missing.

If a reinstall doesn't help download HijackThis from here.
Extract the file to a permanent folder.
Open HijackThis.exe and click "Do a system scan and save a logfile".
Post that log in the Virus and spyware forum.

Thanks for offering to help me. I'm not sure how to reinstall IE7. I went to the MS website, and it says that I'm already using IE7. So there isn't a section to download a clean version of IE7. I did a google search, and there are some non-Microsoft sites that offer IE7 optimized for them...ie Yahoo. But not sure how to download and reinstall IE7. If I delete IE7 from my computer, I won't be able to get back online again.

Hi Niobis. I just found out how to reinstall IE7. I still have the same problem. I did what you said and have downloaded Hijack This. I have posted my log file and the email that states the issue in Virus and Spyware Forum.

    Thanks,
    Jay
