when I use the internet explorer, the space in my hdd goes down by a few hundred mb, a bit of the space come back after a day or 2 but it not fast enough and the space is running out, so it there a way to stop this or get the space back faster. I using windows vista home premium.

I suspect the it's IE7's default cache size being too high (by default it's more than 1GB! Which is just silly because that will just make IE slow down to a crawl) and IE7 keeping up to 20 days of your browsing history.

Refer to the following site: http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html
to reduce your cache and reduce the number of days of browsing history to about 7 or whatever you are comfortable with.

    Hope that helps.
