Ok, I have my connection through a cable modem which is on a router, I do have internet because instant messenger works, but whenever I open my browser (IE 6) it says page cannot be displayed no matter where I go. My laptop does work fine though just not the main system. I recall blocking some program that was trying to access the internet shortly before this issue came up, and after asking the IT guy at work he said my port 80 probably got blocked. I am using Norton Internet Security 2006 and it is what told me to block that program (i forget which one). How do I fix this to get my internet explorer to access http sites again?

You gotta get into the guts of norton...which I personally despise and so don't remember the menus.

You need to go into the firewall section of it, and look for "blocked sites" or "blocked software" or something similar, and try to UNblock it. I bet whatever it was was trying to use IE to access the net, and you unintentionally blocked IE.

Another workaround would be to download firefox, which is 100x cooler anyway.
