My husband built a computer in 2007. Everything worked great.. but in the past 3-4 months, the internet keeps disconnecting. We have three computers on the same network. None of the other computers have this problem, internet works fine for all..

We have changed the network card on his computer, and also changed the network cable. The computer had been formated, viruses had been scanned, drivers updated.. Not sure what else to do.

Computer is vista 64bit, AMD Motherboard, 4GB RAM.
    Anyone have any suggestions??

The only time my internet would disconnect for no reason, it was cause by my antispyware software. Now I don't have any antispyware software installed, I just rely on my antvirus/firewall. Incidently, I was using webroot spyware sweeper that was causing my problems.

    my system
    windows xp/amd 4800 dual core/1gb ram
    1.avg free antivirus
    2.zonealarm firewall
    3.firefox browser
4.returnil (in place of antispyware software)

He doesn't have any antispyware software installed. All he has is AVG and Windows firewall. The same as all the other computers.

He thinks it could be some kind of hardware issue, but we both really don't know that much about computers to know if something is bad..

Do you have a linux livecd? If you do boot it up and see if you have any problem with the internet.

The linux livecd will let you test your hardware. If you have no problems using linux with the internet, you can rule out a hardware problem.

The only other thing left will be a problem with vista64 and a hardware incompatibility.
