Hello I have a Cyberdrive DVD burner that does not burn dvds any more. It happened after i left it on overnight to author a dvd. It can burn cds and read dvds fine. It is about 2 years old. Here is my log. 1A20-021N-XXXX-1286-0950-XXXX 1A21-3582-XXXX-5172-7376-XXXX 1A23-0009-XXXX-2319-0874-XXXX Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: File 'Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=4.71 (0002), size=45056 bytes, created 17/07/2002 9:20:56 a.m. ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 26/10/2004 6:35:34 p.m. Nero Version: 6.6.0.18 Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 18e (Nero Express) Recorder: <DVDR/RW DX162D-A> Version: 100F - HA 1 TA 1 - 6.6.0.18 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <AXV CD/DVD-ROM >Version: 2.2a - HA 2 TA 0 - 6.6.0.18 Adapter driver: <a347scsi> HA 2 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : IBM-DTLA-307030 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On DiskPeripheral : Maxtor 2B020H1 atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : DVDR/RW DX162D-A atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: Off CdRomPeripheral : AXV CD/DVD-ROM 2.2a a347scsi Port 2 ID 0 DMA: Off CdRomPeripheral : MagicISOVirtual DVD-ROM 1.0A mcdbus Port 3 ID 0 DMA: Off === CDRom-Device-Map === DVDR/RW DX162D-A D: CDRom0 AXV CD/DVD-ROM H: CDRom1 MagicISO Virtual DVD-ROM F: CDRom2 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 40894464 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 255MB (261620kB) Free physical memory: 94MB (97172kB) Memory in use : 62 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 10.6.2006 UDF/ISO compilation 10:35:37 a.m. #1 Phase 112 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files reallocation started 10:35:37 a.m. #2 Phase 114 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 10:35:37 a.m. #3 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 6359 UDF document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : FALSE Write : TRUE Finalize CD : TRUE Multisession : FALSE Burning mode : DAO Mode : 1 UDF Mode : UDF/ISO bridge UDF Revision : 1.02 UDF Partition Type : physical ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet :FALSE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : FALSE Allow more than 255 characters in path : FALSE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 10:35:37 a.m. #4 Phase 111 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files sorted 10:35:37 a.m. #5 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 10:35:37 a.m. #6 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer DVDR/RW DX162D-A running 10:35:37 a.m. #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3309 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 10:35:37 a.m. #8 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3309 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 10:35:37 a.m. #9 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3233 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 10:35:38 a.m. #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 270 Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB) Last address to be written: 2047327 (454:57.52, 3998MB) 10:35:38 a.m. #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 282 Write in overburning mode: NO 10:35:38 a.m. #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2483 Recorder: DVDR/RW DX162D-A, Media type: DVD+R 10:35:38 a.m. #13 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 448 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 10:35:38 a.m. #14 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 838 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 () 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 2047328 (2047328) = #2047328/454:57.53 relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/ required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 2047328 blocks [DVDR/RW DX162D-A] -------------------------------------------------------------- 10:35:38 a.m. #15 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1051 Prepare recorder [DVDR/RW DX162D-A] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; Hi pcaddict Let's try some of these suggestions 1st and see how it's goes: Can use a firmware update - the latest is 120F. http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1958 This may help your drive recognize the media you are using - all it can see is this: Recorder: DVDR/RW DX162D-A, Media type: DVD+R Usually you'll also see the manfacturer and the media code. Missing in yours. What brand are you using and the rated burn speed? Like Sony 8x. Turn DMA back on for the burner. Here's a guide: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038 512 mb in memory is better - add more if you can to help. For now keep are much free as possible and no multitasking. If your not using Nero's InCD - uninstall it and run the clean tool. Can sometimes cause problems. http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/us/InCD_CleanTool.html
Missed this one last night - here's even a later one from Cyberhome's website - 170F. http://support.cyberhome.com/support_web.nsf/All_DOCs/4E23BC14C0430AC9882571020008A263 Instructions an all! Try that and let us know how it goes!
could not download firmware from cyberdrive websites, corrupted .zip files. used 140f instead from dangerous brothers. i did most of what you said but still had a problem. i burned at 8x but if i burn at 4x would it work. i have wasted many dvds. i use imation though, could that be the problem. here is the latest log. 1A20-XXXX-XXXX-1286-XXXX-6733* NE 6 1A21-XXXX-XXXX-5172-XXXX-7754 NE Enterprise 1A23-XXXX-XXXX-2125-XXXX-8089 NE Ultra Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: File 'Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=4.71 (0002), size=45056 bytes, created 17/07/2002 9:20:56 a.m. ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 26/10/2004 6:35:34 p.m. Nero Version: 6.6.0.18 Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 18e (Nero Express) Recorder: <DVDR/RW DX162D-A> Version: 140F - HA 1 TA 1 - 6.6.0.18 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <AXV CD/DVD-ROM >Version: 2.2a - HA 2 TA 0 - 6.6.0.18 Adapter driver: <a347scsi> HA 2 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : IBM-DTLA-307030 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On DiskPeripheral : Maxtor 2B020H1 atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : DVDR/RW DX162D-A atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : AXV CD/DVD-ROM 2.2a a347scsi Port 2 ID 0 DMA: Off === CDRom-Device-Map === DVDR/RW DX162D-A D: CDRom0 AXV CD/DVD-ROM F: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 40894464 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 255MB (261620kB) Free physical memory: 37MB (38296kB) Memory in use : 85 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 30.7.2006 UDF/ISO compilation 2:34:27 p.m. #1 Phase 112 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files reallocation started 2:34:27 p.m. #2 Phase 114 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 2:34:27 p.m. #3 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 6359 UDF document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : FALSE Write : TRUE Finalize CD : TRUE Multisession : FALSE Burning mode : DAO Mode : 1 UDF Mode : UDF/ISO bridge UDF Revision : 1.02 UDF Partition Type : physical ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet :FALSE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : FALSE Allow more than 255 characters in path : FALSE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 2:34:28 p.m. #4 Phase 111 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files sorted 2:34:28 p.m. #5 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 2:34:28 p.m. #6 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer DVDR/RW DX162D-A running 2:34:28 p.m. #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3309 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 2:34:28 p.m. #8 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3309 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 2:34:28 p.m. #9 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3233 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 2:34:28 p.m. #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 270 Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB) Last address to be written: 2047327 (454:57.52, 3998MB) 2:34:28 p.m. #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 282 Write in overburning mode: NO 2:34:28 p.m. #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2483 Recorder: DVDR/RW DX162D-A, Media type: DVD+R 2:34:28 p.m. #13 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 448 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 2:34:28 p.m. #14 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 838 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 () 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 2047328 (2047328) = #2047328/454:57.53 relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/ required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 2047328 blocks [DVDR/RW DX162D-A] -------------------------------------------------------------- 2:34:28 p.m. #15 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1051 Prepare recorder [DVDR/RW DX162D-A] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; Hi pcaddict Yes those Imation's could be your problem - your drive still doesn't recognize them even after the Dangerous Bros firmware update - maybe why 4x is working and not 8x. For those stick with 4x. Better would be Verbatim or made in japan only Sony. Fuji or Maxell. I just tried the download from Cyberhome - no corrupt files. You might want to try redownloading the firmware and trying the 170F.
how do you keep your memory low as possible. i closed all programs at the start. i don't know what processes to close in task manager.
Hi pcaddict Ok - just check the bottom right hand in the system tray and see if anything is running there like im's, iTunes, antivirus (disconnect from internet first). When they are turned off before you burn you can look in task manager under performance and see how much is free. If you can add a 256mb stick of ram - that would be best. Are you still having problems burning?
