I have an Iomega Super DVD drive - DVDRW16xUSB (Serial # CHAE45030Y) that I have been using for about a year with Sony 8x media. Someone recently gave me some 16x dvd-r media that will not record. From everything that I have read, I need the latest firmware for my recorder to use these 16x dvd's but I cannot find iomega firmware. I looked all over their website and in the tech chat they just tell me to use their software. I've been using Nero and like it a lot. If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it.
Go to this site, http://www.firmware.fr.st/ click on download search, type in burner model. There are several iomega burners there, locate your model and download.
I can't seem to figure out this site, and the firmware that I find looks to be old, does anyone have any experience with this site that can help me out.
@IomegaSux You need the model # of your burner to find the latest firmware. You can also try iomega website or this site also: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php Just using iomega or super dvd won't help - model # is needed.
DVDRW16xUSB is the only model number that I can find on the unit. I have looked all over the iomega website and can't find anything. All the firmware for iomega burners on the firmware site you provided for me look really old.
@IomegaSux Well that site is a pain!! (iomega). There should be a model # listed somewhere on that drive - your looking for something like this if the oem is LG:HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-XXXXX (usually #'s and a letter) or the oem may be liteon: SOHW-1663. You need the correct model # to get the correct firmware. One question are you trying to burn the 16x media at 16x? Even with newer firmware I won't burn at max. With your drive and good media I would burn at 8x at long as the media was rated 8x speed.
I plan on burning at 8x or 4x but nero won't recognize the dvd's and I can't burn them at all. I have looked all over the drive and the box but I still do not see a model number. The only # I have not posted is the p/n 37367200
Well IomegaSux I'm stumped - the model # is really needed for the correct firmware. here's the closest I come to your drive - oem is LiteOn: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters.php?DVDnameid=784&Search=Search&list=2#comments But clicking on to more info leads to a dead end at iomega website - frimware and model #. Guess that's why your nic is 'IomegaSux'. I think you'll need to contact them to sort this out. What brand of media is it anyhow? That may be another problem.
