Hey guys. I have recorded .asf files from an AXIS Camera 207 (IP Camera) Playback of the .asf file on the machine that recorded them is no issue, using any media player. Files were recorded using the web interface in IE6. So no specific camera has been installed. Play back of the files on any other machine I have tested results in the following. any windows media player 6.0+ nothing Media player 9+ asks you install divx Media player classic - opens loads and does not play. after installing FFDSHOW. Media player 6 - shows video plays fine, seeking etc. No Audio. Media player 9+ - an audio codec is needed to play this file - to metermine if this codec is available to download from the web, click web help. Click webhelp - says to download coreAAC Audio (FF) Downloaded, installed, no luck. I have installed so many codecs Ive lost count. Installed VLC. VLC Plays the video fine, audio playback is there but very choopy sounds like a helecopter, you can hear talking etc, but cannot make out anything. PLEASE HELP!!! lol anything guys? Thanks!
Update: It appears that if a machine has connected to the cameras previously via the web interface to view a live stream. The ActiveX controls that are installed, COULD possibly be the key to allowing play back. However having everyone connect to these cameras is almost mission impossible in my circumstances. SO downloading the Manual install from AXIS website proves to be useless. Any ideas guys?
