iPhone update doubts

    I have an old iPhone 2G, firmware version 2.2.1. Its jailbroken and I have used the process wherein we copy a patched MobileInstallation file inside to use .ipa files. Now my question is is it possible to update it without it getting locked? Can I still install .ipa files when its updated?

    if and when you update the phone, it will be unjailbroken, but it only takes like 2 minutes to rejailbreak your phone so dont let that stop you from updating.
