Ipod 3rd generation Not recognized

    i just got an ipod 3g from a friend but my pc wont recognize it.

    the battery just went out and i need to charge it but i dont have the charger but figured the pc would charge it but it wont recognize the ipod

    what should i do? it come son for about 20 seconds then cuts off when i plug it in or when i unplug it

    i think i would be ok if i charged it then hooked it up to the pc but shouldnt the pc charge it?

    PLEASE HELP

    The iPod 3g is [bold]not[/bold] a click wheel iPod and therefore cannot be charged via your P.C's usb ports. You will have to buy an AC adapter in order to charge it.
