ipod 4th gen uploading songs

    when i try to upload songs from the library, it uploads a portoiiun and then stops saying upload complete yet i only have a small ortion uploaded. I updated the latest itunes and firmware reset my ipod and still have problems. the only fast waty is to use a manually update.
    can anybody help

    Your iPod is probably corrupted, I would suggest sending it back to Apple and have them fix it or send you a new one

    Did you try restoring it? I wasn't sure by your message if you just reset the iPod or actually restored it with the Apple Updater. It sounds like the hardrive might be corrupted, [hope its not totally broken] if the Apple Updater refuses to Restore your iPod, try reformatting it with the HP reformat tool found here:

    yes i tried everything i restored it, i updated it used the latest firmware and latest itunes and it still does the same. at the moment i am trying to format my drive with disk managment amd it has been formatting for over 2 hrs and at present writing i only have 1% formatted. is your formatting suggestion from hp faster , also how long should it take to format a 20 gig with a usb connection(enhanced)
    your help is greatly appreciated, i know i am asking a lot but you guys seem to be the only ones who know what to do.

    dark jello,
    I used the hp key maker and it formatted my ipod but now i lost both my cdrom drives it shows up on device manager but it says the following, Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

    Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

    Can you help Please

    That is certaintly an interesting problem. Do you by accident try and format your CD drives? Honestly that really isn't my area of expertise by any means. You could try asking about your CD drives here:

    everything works now, i used the hp drive key bopot and t took only aboput 20 minutes to format my drive. when i used the latest updates from apple i had the same problem all over again. i reinstalled the software which came with the ipod and YUPEE i was able to update my ipod. at this time it updates only partially my library why? i dont know but i will try to upload the rest tomorrow.Also my cdrom drives came back all of a sudden after I shut down my computer.

    Does your iPod hold all of the songs in your iTunes Library? And are all the songs checked off?

    Glad to hear you got your CD Roms back as that would have been a pain.

    all the songs are checked off in the library and I have 586 songs in mp3 format at 1.95 gigs. MY ipod has a 20 gig hd.
    Any suggestions again thanks

    re the same problem, i reformatted my drive restored the ipod, and either manually or automatic updated my ipod only takes 581 songs and then itunes shuts down with the following message unknow error -69 unable to update Ipod. any ideas what could be wrong?? Please help?
    my itunes library now holds over 1000 songs yet it only updated half
